Blessings for the New Year ....

New Year Blessings
from my Home to yours!

Psalm 148

Praise to the LORD from Creation
1 Praise the LORD!

Praise the LORD from the heavens;
Praise Him in the heights!
2 Praise Him, all His angels;
Praise Him, all His hosts!
3 Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!
4 Praise Him, you heavens of heavens,
And you waters above the heavens!

5 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
For He commanded and they were created.
6 He also established them forever and ever;
He made a decree which shall not pass away.

7 Praise the LORD from the earth,
You great sea creatures and all the depths;
8 Fire and hail, snow and clouds;
Stormy wind, fulfilling His word;
9 Mountains and all hills;
Fruitful trees and all cedars;
10 Beasts and all cattle;
Creeping things and flying fowl;
11 Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all judges of the earth;
12 Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.

13 Let them praise the name of the LORD,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.
14 And He has exalted the horn of His people,
The praise of all His saints—
Of the children of Israel,
A people near to Him.

Praise the LORD!

In The Bleak Mid-Winter Carol

1906 by Gustav Holst

1. In the bleak mid-winter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak mid-winter
Long ago.

2. Our God, Heaven cannot hold Him
Nor earth sustain;
Heaven and earth shall flee away
When He comes to reign:
In the bleak mid-winter
A stable-place sufficed
The Lord God Almighty,
Jesus Christ.

3. Enough for Him, whom cherubim
Worship night and day,
A breastful of milk
And a mangerful of hay;
Enough for Him, whom angels
Fall down before,
The ox and ass and camel
Which adore.

4. Angels and archangels
May have gathered there,
Cherubim and seraphim
Thronged the air,
But only His mother1
In her maiden bliss,
Worshipped the Beloved
With a kiss.

5. What can I give Him,
Poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd
I would bring a lamb,
If I were a wise man
I would do my part,
Yet what I can I give Him,
Give my heart.

Be in the Word and under the Word in 2008

Oh, the weather outside is frightful ...

The Ice Cometh ...

Sleet and freezing rain ...
it can really be a pain,
but yet in its own right
can be such a pretty sight.
Brilliant and shattering,
fragments that are staggering,
His Glory is found in the twinkling of light,
as it shines from the Heaven's
bouncing off the ice.
What did the Shepherd's see that night?
What Glory did they behold?
Evening falls at twilight eve
what Glory do you see?

Blessings!

Bible Book Challenge .... Update

Can you find the sixteen (16) books of the Bible in this paragraph?

I once made a remark about the hidden books of the Bible. It was a lulu, kept people looking so hard for facts and for others it was a revelation. Some were in a jam, especially since the names of the books were not capitalized, but the truth finally struck home to numbers of readers. To others it was a real job. We want it to be a most fascinating few moments for you. Yes, there will be some easy ones to spot. Others may require judges to help them. I quickly admit it usually takes a minister to find one of them, and there will be loud lamentations when it is found. A little lady says she brews a cup of tea so she can concentrate better. Well, see how you can compete. Relax, now, for there really are sixteen names of books of the Bible in this story. One preacher found 15 books in 20 minutes, but it took him three weeks to find the sixteenth one.

Christmas Letters ...

Christmas Letters ...

O see the Christmas Letters
we are sending off today,

Each one is tied with ribbon,
just to make it look more gay.
And here's a bit of holly
we have safely tucked inside,

To bear a loving message
of the Happy Christmas tide.

Chorus --
Just a little Christmas letters

bearing words of cheer.

Just a little bit of sunshine

In His Name so dear.

They hold some kindly wishes
with
our words of hope and cheer.
And little Bible verses all about the Child so dear.

To many homes and loved ones

to carry rays of sunshine
and our glad goodwills to show.

O see the Christmas letters
we will send
them with a prayer.
In His dear Name,
Who tells us
all our wonderful joys to share.

Now speed upon your mission

do not tarry by the way.

And take those loving kisses
as
our gifts for Christmas Day!

To Him Be The Glory! Amen!

Christmas Welcome ...

Christmas Welcome ...
from my home to yours ...

When the summer time is past,
and the Harvest house at last,
and the wood is standing bare and brown and sere.

When the forest is sharp at night
and the days are short and bright,
comes the gladdest, merriest time of all the year!

Let the tempest rage without,
let its last be wild and stout,
what care we our hearts are stout and strong.

Within tis warm and light,
and the kindness shining bright,
and the voices of our friends are in our song!

Chorus:
Shout boys
Shout a hearty welcome
Greet Old Christmas with a roar!
He has met us with good cheer
For this many a marry year.
And we hope he'll meet us all for many more.

Taken from my Gram's Composition Book.
She makes note that it is to be sung to the tune - Tramp, Tramp, Tramp.

To Him Be The Glory! Amen!
