Something to Ponder Update ...

In light of Faith is it Biblical?

Pam's thoughts ~~

The Bible is a paradox. Thankfully we will understand it all in eternity, but as for today we rely on the Holy Spirit to open up the Word of God to us. Gal. 3:2 "This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" or Rom.10:17 "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." A picture is worth a thousand words is of the world. But in the Church we need to say that a thousand words are better than a picture! If all you did was come to church and look at a human beings ideas of what Jesus looked like on a tree, that mute picture may move you to sympathy, sadness and sorrow but it would not move you to sanctification. John W. Dewitt said, "God will not save his people by dumb (mute) images but by the lively preaching of His word." Again Rom 10:17 ... the Word is simple, plain and pure. It is the Word of God. John 17:17 "Santicfy them by Your truth. Your word is truth." So are we saved by the works of the law? Are we saved by rituals and images? The Great Commission -- Go and Tell ... not go and show a picture. So -- Is seeing believing? ....

  1. Here's the first (and second)thing that popped into my mind:

    Jesus said:

Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. Jn 20:29

    Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. . .13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland.
