A Northern Whisper in the Stormy Wind
July 12th, 2007 by J.W.M.
This morning I read the following verses from Scripture:
Praise the LORD from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all deeps,
fire and hail, snow and mist,
stormy wind fulfilling his word!
(Psalm 148:7-8, ESV)
I remember the first time these verses caught my attention. It was during the responsive Psalter reading during Sunday morning worship at church. As I read them - especially verse 8 - I felt a tingle creeping up my back. The tingle was that sensation which Lewis describes in his autobiography as “the northerness”.
For those of who you have felt such a sensation, no more description is necessary. For those who have not, how do describe it? It an utterly epic sensation - a sense of standing on the slopes of a high mountain in Winter ... ahh - drawn to want more? Head on over here to Jeremiah's blog. While there take a minute and browse around. Jeremiah is under our Presbytery as a seminary student. He causes you to think deeply. He also has written a book and has it published titled "Soulmancer." You can read more about it on his blog, too.
